Dow's compensation philosophy is to align executives' compensation with the company's short-term and long-term financial and operational performance, and to provide a framework to attract, retain, and motivate key executives critical to achieving Dow's vision and strategy.

The bonus is part of the Annual Performance Award, which is an annual cash incentive program. The 2016 Performance Award focused on critical financial and operational goals, with a company component payout of 113% of the target and an individual performance factor of 110%, resulting in a total payout of 124% of the target amount.

Includes personal use of Company aircraft ($425,785), Company contributions to savings plans ($89,189), financial and tax planning ($63,499), Company provided automobile ($23,219), and tax reimbursement ($21,642).
